Yeah, that’ll do nicely, and on Friday, the first of those three shows at the Bowl, it went down wonderfully, with the typically reserved Lynne seeming delighted between songs at what he was hearing, and saying just that in his frequent thanks to conductor Thomas Wilkins and the orchestra.Īnd with 18 songs, including a good handful that weren’t played at the Fonda last year, and the Bowl’s fireworks display at the finish, it was a show that left all who witnessed it with smiles on their faces as they flowed back out into the parking lots and streets of Hollywood at the finish. It was a near-perfect night and how do you top one of those? Hmmm, well, how about three sold-out shows at the Hollywood Bowl with the full power of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra backing up ELO and fleshing out songs with more pomp and grandeur and orchestral glory than ever before? in top form as they played songs from a new album and hits from the ’70s and ’80s. Jeff Lynne and Electric Light Orchestra played Los Angeles after more than three decades away last year with a show that thrilled the 1,200 or so fans lucky enough to score tickets to the Fonda Theatre, a fantastic show that found Lynne & Co.
